San Francisco - Yosemite - 7 octobre

(avec du retard mais tout de même enfin une connection internet à Mammoth Lake!!)

Quittons l'hotel Argonaut du Fisherman's Wharf, SF vers 10h pour prendre le street car direction Powell Street/Market Street afin d'aller récupérer notre voiture de location.
Après 1h de queue et de paperasserie, nous repartons avec notre carosse Hyundai bien pourav', mais elle a 4 roues, ce qui nous arrange...:-)
Direction le Bay Bridge sur la 80 pour rejoindre la 580 Est, puis la 120 qui nous mène jusqu'au parc de Yosemite;
Notre hotel est situé juste avant l'entrée Ouest du parc, mais nous décidons de filer voir la Yosemite Valley et le visitor center, malgré les trombes d'eau qui se mettent à tomber dès notre arrivée! vous verrez sur les quelques photos du jour un El Capitan bien timide dans le brouillard!!!
On nous apprend au visitor center qu'il nous faut un permis pour monter au sommet du Half Dome, tous vendus depuis le mois de juin (permis pour les vendredi et week ends...) grrrrrrr et double grrrrrrrrrrrr....on ressort un peu dépités mais c'est pas grave, la montée sera belle malgré tout, tant pis pour le Dome lui même!!
Filons à l'hotel à El Portal, au moins la chambre est chouette, vue sur la rivière Merced et les montagnes, kitchenette, balcon et jacuzzi!!
demain la journée sera rude alors extinction des feux à 21h30!

after a fantastic stay in SF, we left our hotel in Fisherman's Wharf to get our rental car from the city center; from there we headed to the Bay Bridge to catch the 580 East and then 120 towards Yosemite;
We got there just as a storm started, lurvely...but still went into the Valley for a quick tour and to find the visitor center. There we were told that in order to hike the Half Dome to the top, we needed to have a permit, and that all were pre-booked and sold out since June!! DOH!! slightly p'd off, we still decided that the hike to the "almost" top will be great anyway... :-)
Our hotel in El Portal is very pleasant, with a view over the river and the mountains, we even have a Jacuzzi in the room so can't complain!

Early night though as we have a very early start in the morning!!
